RESEARCH MANAGEMENT & INNOVATION CENTER UNIVERSITI TUN HUSSEIN ONN MALAYSIA

Alexandra Palace, London - Universiti Tun Hussein Onn’s (UTHM’s) research outputs continue to attain world recognition at the British Invention, Innovation and Technology Show 2008 (BIS ’08). The BIS Alexandra Palace, London’08 was held at the Alexandra Palace in London from the 15-18 October 2008 with an increased participation by inventors and researchers compared to BIS ’07. UTHM submitted four entries and were recognized for their efforts with 3 gold and one silver award. It was an occasion that was further complimented by the Special Award-Double Gold for the consumer category that was awarded for the Modified Grouting Polymer (M.G.P.) product that was the outcome of the research work undertaken by a team of UTHM researchers headed by Associate Prof. Dr. Mohd Idrus bin Mohd Masirin.

This is the first time that UTHM has participated at the British Invention Show, and this outstanding success is testimony to the high quality industry-focused research that is being undertaken at UTHM.

Amongst the notable exciting achievements at the BIS ’08, was the wide UK live media coverage accorded to the UTHM solar energy cooker. The Solar CHEF product also won a gold award.

Having participated at two international research and innovation competitions for 2008, UTHM has thus far won 3 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze awards.

The Research Management and Innovation Centre (RMIC) in particular and the wider community of UTHM would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the award winners at BIS ’08 and all who have contributed to the outstanding success.

The RMIC at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn, serving as the focal point of research and innovation at UTHM, is confident that with the high level of commitment and effort of all concerned that further achievements of international repute will be acquired by UTHM researchers in the near future for the common benefit of society at large.
